About Us
At Andurax, we’re building India’s first private re-entry vehicle designed to fly to space, carry experiments and payloads, and return them safely to Earth. We’re here to make space not just a destination, but a dependable, repeatable extension of Earth for industries that need it most. We believe the future of space isn’t just about going farther, it’s also about coming back safer. By building a platform that can fly frequently, recover gently, and serve a wide range of commercial and defence needs, we’re opening doors to a space-powered industrial future. As part of our growing team, you will gain direct experience working with systems that power real engines and flight platforms.
Role Overview
As an Aerodynamics Intern, you will assist in the design, analysis, and testing of aerodynamic surfaces and flight behavior of Andurax’s reusable reentry vehicle. Your work will focus on subsonic to hypersonic regimes, addressing stability, control, and heat loads during descent and landing phases. This role will involve CFD, wind tunnel correlation, and integration with the vehicle control team.
Responsibilities
Support aerodynamic modeling across all flight phases: ascent, coast, reentry, and landing
Perform CFD simulations for subsonic, transonic, and hypersonic flow regimes
Analyze aerodynamic stability, control authority, and body-axis moments across variable conditions
Contribute to design of control surfaces (fins, elevons, flaps) for glide and reentry phase
Collaborate with avionics and structures teams to align aero models with flight dynamics and sensor data
Assist in boundary condition setup, mesh generation, and solver configuration for various flow problems
Analyze flow separation, shock interactions, and thermal behavior under transient conditions
Evaluate pressure and heat flux loads for material and thermal protection system (TPS) integration
Assist in pre-drop test modeling and contribute to post-flight data correlation and analysis
Requirements
B.Tech/M.Tech in Propulsion, Mechanical, or related fields
Working knowledge of CFD tools like ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, XFoil, SU2 etc
Strong fundamentals in fluid dynamics, compressible flow, and heat transfer
Familiarity with control surface sizing, moment coefficient analysis, and trim conditions
Familiarity with mesh generation tools and solver boundary conditions
Experience analyzing simulation outputs and visualizing flow fields
Willingness to work hands-on in test environments and correlate results with real data
Preferred Skills
Exposure to reentry vehicle dynamics, hypersonic aerodynamics, or TPS design
Hands-on experience with trajectory simulation or flight control model integration
Experience with MATLAB, Python, or custom aero analysis scripts
Familiarity with flight test data reduction and reconstruction
Knowledge of wind tunnel testing or low-speed aero model fabrication
What You'll Gain
Real-world experience designing and simulating reentry flight systems
Exposure to aerodynamics of reusability, glide reentry, and free-drop test integration
Cross-disciplinary collaboration with propulsion, avionics, and control teams
Certificate and Letter of Recommendation on successful completion
Potential for full-time conversion based on performance
