About Us
At Andurax, we’re building India’s first private re-entry vehicle designed to fly to space, carry experiments and payloads, and return them safely to Earth. We’re here to make space not just a destination, but a dependable, repeatable extension of Earth for industries that need it most. We believe the future of space isn’t just about going farther, it’s also about coming back safer. By building a platform that can fly frequently, recover gently, and serve a wide range of commercial and defence needs, we’re opening doors to a space-powered industrial future. As part of our growing team, you will gain direct experience working with systems that power real engines and flight platforms.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Design Intern, you will contribute to the development of propulsion hardware and flight structures for Andurax’s reusable spaceplane. You’ll support the design, analysis, and integration of systems ranging from combustion chambers to structural panels and aerodynamic control surfaces. This role is hands-on and test-driven, offering direct exposure to engine firing campaigns and free-flight test.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design and development of components for our propulsion systems
Support the design, integration, and testing of mechanical subsystems for the spaceplane
Work on tooling and ground support infrastructure for propulsion and structural testing
Conduct mechanical simulations (FEA) and thermal evaluations for structural and propulsion components
Generate and review detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation
Work hands-on with test rigs, prototype assembly, and field instrumentation setups
Requirements
B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronics Engineering
Strong understanding of mechanical design, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or CATIA)
Familiarity with FEA or CFD tools for mechanical and thermal simulations
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerance stacks, and BOMs
Willingness to work in field environments, hands-on with hardware, tools, and test setups
Strong attention to detail and eagerness to work on mission-critical systems
Preferred Skills
Prior experience with propulsion or structural aerospace projects (model rockets, UAVs, internships, etc.)
Familiarity with high-pressure systems
Exposure to in flight test systems, aircraft recovery hardware, or landing gear structures
Experience with composites or aerospace-grade alloys
Working knowledge of scripting tools like Python or MATLAB for data analysis
What You'll Gain
Hands-on experience in propulsion systems and high-performance aerospace structures
Exposure to real engine tests, field drop campaigns, and aerospace integration cycles
Mentorship from experienced aerospace engineers and researchers
Certificate and Letter of Recommendation upon successful completion
Potential for full-time opportunity or extended role based on performance
