About Us
At AnduraX, we’re building India’s first private re-entry vehicle designed to fly to space, carry experiments and payloads, and return them safely to Earth. We’re here to make space not just a destination, but a dependable, repeatable extension of Earth for industries that need it most. We believe the future of space isn’t just about going farther, it’s also about coming back safer. By building a platform that can fly frequently, recover gently, and serve a wide range of commercial and defence needs, we’re opening doors to a space-powered industrial future. As part of our growing team, you will gain direct experience working with systems that power real engines and flight platforms.
Role Overview
As a GNC Intern, you will work on the development, simulation, and testing of guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for AnduraX’s reusable reentry vehicle. You will support both low-altitude free-drop tests and high-speed reentry operations, helping shape the vehicle’s trajectory control, attitude stability, landing accuracy, and autonomous recovery logic. This role is hands-on, simulation-driven, and deeply integrated with teams specializing in avionics, aerodynamics, and propulsion. You’ll help build and validate the algorithms that keep the vehicle stable in flight and bring it back with precision.
Responsibilities
Develop sensor fusion algorithms combining IMU, GPS, barometric, and magnetometer data
Assist in calibration, characterization, and testing of navigation sensors
Support onboard state estimation for both drop tests and reentry flights
Assist in trajectory generation and prediction for drop, glide, and reentry phases
Support flightpath shaping for controlled descent and precision landing
Work on autonomous abort and safe-landing algorithms
Help design and tune attitude control loops (PID, LQR, or MPC-based)
Evaluate actuator performance: elevons, flaps, parafoil steering, or reaction systems
Simulate control responses during disturbances, turbulence, and off-nominal events
Contribute to 6DOF simulation models and Monte Carlo analysis
Support HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) setups using flight controllers and real sensors
Participate in drop test preparations, ground checks, and flight data reconstruction
Requirements
B.Tech/M.Tech in Control/GNC Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or related fields
Understanding of classical and modern control systems
Familiarity with dynamics, kinematics, and flight mechanics
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar simulation tools
Basic knowledge of sensor fusion (Kalman filters preferred)
Ability to interpret flight data and compare against simulations
Strong analytical skills and comfort with iterative test-driven development
Preferred Skills
Experience with 6DOF simulation or guidance algorithm development
Exposure to embedded systems or flight controllers (Pixhawk, STM32, etc.)
Knowledge of reentry dynamics, parafoil control, or glide trajectory shaping
Familiarity with ROS, PX4, or onboard logging systems
Experience with C/C++ for real-time implementations
Understanding of actuator modeling and control surface dynamics
What You'll Gain
Hands-on experience with actual drop tests and flight-ready GNC systems
Deep understanding of reusable reentry vehicle dynamics and control
Exposure to real telemetry, onboard navigation systems, and GNC pipelines
Opportunity to participate in mission planning and post-flight analysis
